WILD PATIENCE AND BIG RESULTS
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Happy New Year! Happy New Grant Year, that is.
We have a crisp and essential vision: that all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
That vision is baked into everything the Alliance for Early Success does—especially our investments. We invest in three areas to achieve effective policies with smart funding for children birth through age eight:
- Policymaker Leadership
- Knowledge and Research
The playing field is not level. While all kids benefit from smart policies, at the Alliance we prioritize children at risk of poor outcomes with an approach that builds on family, cultural, and community strengths. The best bet policies in our Birth Through Eight State Policy Framework promote racial, social, income, and gender equity by addressing systemic barriers that get in the way for some children and their families.
So far this year we have made more than $6 million in grants for work that will happen between Sept. 1, 2018, and Aug. 31, 2019.
We’re thrilled that these dollars leveraged 2.5 times that amount in other private funds dedicated to the same goals: good health, strong and supporting families, quality early learning. There’s lots of work to be done and we believe we achieve results faster together than we ever could alone.
Our knees are bent and we’re able to work in real time. A portion of these grants support Rapid Response (RR), our unique way of mobilizing our National Technical Assistance Network to help states seize an unplanned opportunity or fend off an unexpected threat. You can learn more about Rapid Response here.
Here’s the Deal: Alliance leadership and our 50 state and national expert network fight everyday for policies known to result in better health, family support, and learning outcomes. Thank you all for the work you do everyday.
Our incredible funding partners make this possible by investing in the pooled fund. We’re fortunate that many have been with us from the start. And we’re thrilled to announce new partners. Welcome and thanks to the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without all these important partners.
So what? We’re committed to getting big results in this new grant year. With WILD PATIENCE, together we will act boldly while recognizing it takes sustained effort to change the trajectory and improve the lives of many young children.
